This beautiful rosewood Dilruba is believed to date from the1940s, although its age has not been confirmed. Regardless of its exact age, the wood tells a story, showing plenty of character and history.
It is surprisingly well cared for and in very good condition. The body was at some point stripped of its orange colour, reminants of which can still been seen on the back of the sound box (see photo), However, this resulted in revealing the stunning wood grain. The instrument has clearly been lovingly restored with a new taraf peg bar and has generally been given a great deal of care and attention. The beautiful bone pegs add a touch of antiquity and charm.
This Dilruba comes with a custom-made wooden case and a Western-style bow.
