Sher Mohammad sitar. A playable collectors item.

This is a fabulous simple old sitar with a great "old sound". Its maker, Sher Mohammad from Lahore in Pakaistan, was the teacher of the famous instrument makers Rikkhi Ram and Katar and Hari Chand of Delhi. They learnt how to make their sitars from him in the 1940s. 

The sitar is presently in the Ravi Shankar style, its tarafs are very responsive and it has a fantastic sustain. This particular sitar came to Europe via Afghanistan and was once in an antique shop in the 1950s. Recently renovated whilst keeping all the original parts,
